Congratulations to our partners at Hawaii Island Community Development Corporation (HICDC) on the groundbreaking at Kaloko Heights in Kailua Kona, HI! This development is expected to be completed in Fall 2024 and will provide 99 units of affordable housing for families in need and one manager's unit.
With the costs of living and housing rapidly rising, families on Kona are at risk for displacement and being unhoused. However, Kaloko Heights is being built to offer families of all sizes earning 30-60% of the Area Median Income (AMI) a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home with 42 two-bedroom and 58 three-bedroom units. Five units will be set aside for either families experiencing homelessness, at risk of becoming homeless, or transitioning out of emergency shelter or transitional housing program.
There was also a traditional blessing of the land in addition to the groundbreaking.
